In partnership with Jefferies Group, LaneTerralever also conducted one-on-one interviews with executives from some of the largest casino operators in United States incorporate their priorities and ideas. Their Casino Player Trends Report 2022 provides casino operators and marketers with player discovery and data-driven strategies to deliver a world-class experience and build long-term loyalty.

The report focuses on four generations of gamers: Gen Z (18-25), Millennials (26-41), Gen X (42-57) and Baby Boomers (58-75) who currently belong to a program of loyalty and placed a bet in the last two years. Three of the most impactful areas covered in the report are customer experience expectations, the impacts of online sports betting, and emerging trends in loyalty programs.

While most casinos know what works for established players, special attention should be paid to what matters for emerging players. The report finds that the online experiences offered by casinos are an essential piece of the puzzle, but should not overshadow the importance of the in-person experience. Among those surveyed, gamblers would be encouraged to visit a casino in person because of the ability to immediately cash out winnings (48%) and the social experience of watching events with family and friends (31%) .

Regarding the growing world of sports betting, the report found that while younger generations have embraced betting from the comfort of their homes, 70% of Gen Z and Millennials said legalizing sports betting made them more likely to visit a casino. in person. To capitalize on this untapped market, casino operators should use their loyalty programs to boost in-person engagements with these online gamblers.

In addition to generating in-person visits, loyalty programs are one of the most effective tools for identifying and developing a casino’s most valuable players. Emphasizing this point, it has been found that 65% of players will visit a casino based on their perception of its loyalty program.
