Detroit hotel project takes a mulligan on design, adding golf and gun simulators

Each signed 10-year leases, Caradonna said. Financial terms are not disclosed.

Five Iron Golf will occupy 24,000 square feet with 13 practice bays, a large putting green and a club adjustment area. Additionally, the space will include a full-service bar, two bowling lanes, pool tables, a shuffleboard and widescreen TVs, according to a press release from the company. Trackman compatible arrays measure game statistics such as distance, spin and shots in real time and are equipped with course simulations well known around the world.

“Five Iron Golf Detroit will continue its signature design aesthetic by creating a multi-sensory interior by mixing graffiti, murals by local artists, neon signs and modern living room furniture,” the statement said. “The dynamic atmosphere fuses energy and playfulness with comfort, enhancing Five Iron Golf’s wide range of offerings, including casual play, leagues, club fitting, private lessons, clinics and social events. “

Indoor golf simulators have become more prevalent in the Detroit subway. TopGolf, which opened a full driving range in Auburn Hills in 2018, first tested the market a year earlier with a “swing suite” at MGM Grand Detroit. Los Angeles-based driving simulator franchisor X Golf has quickly grown its footprint with eight locations in Southeast Michigan.

EOTech Gear Store will occupy approximately 8,000 square feet with an outdoor gear retail store and interactive firearms training simulator, Caradonna said. The shooting range will not be used for actual firearms but will be used for training and demonstration of company technology.

Founded in 1995 and out of the University of Michigan’s Institute for Environmental Research, EOTech sells riflescopes, magnifiers, and sights for the military, police, and hunting, according to its website. It also sells t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and hats.
