G2E Asia 2022 has moved to Singapore
The 2022 edition of the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia casino industry trade show and conference is now taking place in Singapore, from August 24-26. The information was made available Friday on the event website.
Event organizer Reed Exhibitions previously announced plans for a 2022 edition in Macau, to be held from August 30 to September 1 at the usual venue, Cotai Expo at the Venetian Macau Casino.
The Singapore event, officially dubbed “G2E Asia 2022 Special Edition: Singapore”, is to take place at the Marina Bay Sands casino resort.
Venetian Macao and Marina Bay Sands are both controlled by US casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp.
The other organizer of G2E Asia is the American Gaming Association.
G2E Asia has been held annually in Macau since 2007 and through 2019. The 2020 and 2021 in-person editions of the event have been cancelled.
Currently, foreign passport holders who are not also Macau ID card holders are not allowed to enter Macau as a Covid-19 countermeasure.
Singapore was one of the first Southeast Asian nations to announce a significant easing pandemic-related travel restrictions.
In late March, the country’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said he was “substantially” easing the city-state’s cross-border travel restrictions from March 29, as the Covid-19 situation there was under control. The city-state reopened its borders to all fully vaccinated travelers from April 1.
The G2E brand is also associated with a trade show that is usually held every year in Las Vegas in the United States. G2E Las Vegas 2020 was removed from this year’s schedule entirely, due to the pandemic, but the show and conference have returned in 2021.
