Quepos Costa Rica is getting a makeover:

Last weekend, 40 artists and 20 children undertook a painting project (2 km long) from the entrance to Quepos to the Pan-American Highway. This multi-day project brought life and beauty back to this avenue by painting a multitude of murals along its entire length.

Several organizations have worked together to achieve this: the Mar a Mar association, Marina Pez Vela, Serenity Boutique Hotel, Pacifico Travel, the Boca Vieja Committee, the National Optimum Artists, the Environment Committee and the Municipality of Quepos.

Special thanks to Conchita Espino, Andy Zapata, Marketa Zemanova and Petra Brinkoff.

The day begins with a hearty breakfast at Serenity boutique hotel and a pep talk by Conchita. After seeing the completed murals, Conchita shared these thoughts. “I love all the beautiful murals with the message to protect our oceans. We are so grateful to the talented artists who transformed what was previously a drab last 2k. from El Camino de Costa Rica in a fun and meaningful finish.

Then it’s time to create. Many artists have come from other parts of Costa Rica to give their time and creativity to this project. They left a lasting monument to their talent and their message.

The children, organized and led by Petra, also leave their mark. The kids had a great time, and as a result, several of them expressed an interest in learning more about making art, which Petra encourages. Petra added: “Art is my job, but really I play. If I can create a goal by playing with others, then the result will be a community with a goal.”

Andy Zapata said, “This project is very important to our community and the legacy we leave for our children. We feel like we are making our city cleaner and more beautiful while sending a message of hope to protect our environment. Andy ended by saying that she hopes this will be the first of these activities.

The art they left behind was amazing and inspiring. . “A true artist is not one who is inspired but one who inspires others.” Salvador Dali

Capricious. Many artists have the same concerns that many of us have about the destruction man brings to Mother Earth every day. The artists therefore undertook to remind us of the consequences of our actions. Thus, the work focused on nature and a Save our Planet theme. Give us all something to think about.

Colorful and beautiful. What started as an idea grew to involve nearly 75 volunteers who made this art project a reality. The styles and form of art vary from simple to complex, from realism to abstract. But they all contribute to the feeling that you are stepping into a community that cares about nature and the impression it leaves on every visitor.

The road to Quepos has been transformed from something you forget as soon as you pass it to a magical and beautiful surprise on every building that passes. To the organizers, the artist, the children and the many volunteers, the inhabitants of Quepos thank you.
