Splash House Palm Springs will require proof of vaccine and negative test
Those who frequent Splash House this month will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours.
The festival is expected to bring together 7,000 people a day at the Margaritaville Resort Palm Springs, Saguaro Palm Springs, Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel and the Palm Springs Air Museum during the weekends of August 13-15 and August 20-22.
The requirement follows Palm Springs City Council approval on Wednesday of a number of COVID-19 policies for city workers, community and events.
“We support the city’s decision,” founder Tyler McLean said Wednesday evening. “It’s the right thing to do. The health and safety of our guests and the community is our priority. We will add this new requirement to our protocols in place for Splash House.”

Vaccination compulsory two weeks before the visit
Customers must show their physical, digital or vaccination cards at the entrance to the festival. A negative COVID-19 test will be accepted at the ticket office during check-in when picking up the bracelets.
Splash House requires pass holders to be inoculated with at least one dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine, two weeks prior to registration.
Any COVID-19 test (antigen or PCR) is acceptable.
The Chicago Lollapalooza Music Festival implemented similar protocols for about 100,000 daily attendees last weekend. Mayor Lori Lightfoot cited strict pandemic precautions to defend the decision to hold the festival.
Lollapalooza said 90% of attendees on the first day of the event proved they were vaccinated. Lightfoot said hundreds of people have been turned away.
In addition to proof of vaccination, masks will be mandatory inside and on the shuttles. The organizers ask participants to bring their own face covering and keep it on at all times. Masks will be available at customer services and medical tents.
Organizers also said pass holders can expect bags to be checked upon arrival, adding that there will be handwashing stations with soap and sanitizer and venues will carry out cleaning. improved in common areas.
Splash House is the first major music event to return to the Coachella Valley ahead of other planned events such as Desert Daze and the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals.
Founded by Tyler and Kelly McLean in 2013, Splash House has become a major contributor to summer tourism in Palm Springs. Over the past two years, the host hotels – the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel, the Riviera Palm Springs Resort, and the Saguaro Palm Springs – have sold out on both weekends, drawing 7,000 attendees to the city.
Splash House has announced three festivals for 2020, all of which have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. McLean said they initially planned a festival for June 2021 but did not take place due to logistics and a lack of clarity on COVID-19 protocols.
Both weekends of this year’s festival sold out within 10 minutes of going on sale in June, according to McLean, who added that most attendees are in their 20s and 30s and travel to the festival from the south. from California and states such as New York, Texas, Colorado, and Arizona.
The 2018 event resulted in 10,000 occupied nights each weekend and brought in $ 10 million to the local economy, according to the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau.
